New Affliliate System coming.

March 12th, 2008 John

Firstly I would like to thank the 75+ people who have signed on as affiliates. We are overwhelmed at your support. Thank you so much for helping us to share our movies with as many families as possible.

Our current system is showing signs of wear and we have decided to make the leap to a more fully featured system so that we can better serve our growing affiliate community better.

This will unfortunately not be an easy transition so please bear with us. We are going to be paying out the affilates that have reached the $200 / quarter threshold in the near future. For the rest of you we will transfer your balances into the new system.

The accounts will also transfer over to the new system but we will have to manually setup the recurring transactions from the old system in the new one and this may take some time.

New transactions will be moved to the new server almost straight away and we will get you setup with banners and URLS as soon as we can.

I appologize for the inconvenience, I am sure that this new system will be much more user friendly and it will be worth the time taken to switch.

What about my requests?

March 12th, 2008 John

Folks,

We appreciate the requests coming thick and fast but it seems that you have overwhelmed our email system (or overwhelmed my email abilities). We are looking to add some new titles very soon and in fact a lot of your suggestions are already on our list.

If I could make a request, could you use the Support Center to log requests for now, we are in the process of updating our system to accommodate a request form that puts requests into some order and can be searched so that you can see what has already been requested.

I will add a requests category to the Support Center for now and the new system should be up in the next few weeks. See the post below for a link to the Support Center.

New Support Center

March 1st, 2008 John

We have been busy working behind the scenes here at Faith and Family Flix trying to improve our customer service and keep track of your requests a little better than we have.

You will notice that the main page now has all movies rather than our welcome message and links for Affiliates and our Trade-In programs. You can still access these from the links in the Sidebar.

Our Contact Form has been gathering a lot of SPAM so we have moved from an email based system to a Support Center system. Each time you have a problem or question for FFF support, you can fill out a ticket and submit to our support center.

You can find this support center at

Suggestions and our Rating System

March 1st, 2008 John

Hi folks! Those of you who have made a suggestion for movies that you would like to see. We have been compiling a list and then endeavoring to watch and evaluate each one before putting on our site. It is a long process and we are looking at how we can make it work better. We do not want to put our stamp of approval on a movie without having seen it and yet we do not have time to watch every single movie.

We have taken your comments on some of the movies and have removed a couple that people have said are not suitable for everyone to watch. We are continuing to pursue a two tier review system that will clearly identify movies as for “Everyone” or “Parents Decide”. Look for a change on the movie detail page in the next few weeks as we implement it on our site.

UPCOMING

January 31st, 2008 Steve

Dear Friends,

We will be implementing a new “trade in” program. This is a program that gives you the opportunity to get rid of DVD’s you no longer use. Well, let me clarify: we will post a list of DVD’s we need, and if you have any, you can send them in with your regular return. As long as the DVD is in playable shape (no deep scratches or cracks), we will apply a credit towards your account. We figure this is a win, win situation for all parties. If you have something not on our list, you can shoot us an email with the title and we’ll check it out.

We’ve spent approximately $5000 in the last couple weeks just adding inventory (so please bear with us if you are not receiving your top requests). Alot of the classics are harder to get and must be back ordered, thus the delivery time is longer…sorry:-(

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, keep plenty of selections in your queue (at least 15)

Thank you again to all of you who care about what comes in to your home. Your choices will have a positive affect on your family…and our country.  God have mercy on our country!

God’s Peace to You and Yours.

Writing Reviews

January 10th, 2008 John

As we go along, I am hoping that more and more of you will take the time to write some reviews of the movies and other videos that you watch. The more information that we provide to each other about our movie watching experience, the better advised we are as parents in choosing titles for our families to watch.

Our customer rating and review system is easy to use once you get the hang of it! Here is a quick tutorial for any of you who might like to try this out.

Log in to the FFF site the same way you do to access your queue and add movies etc.

Navigate to the movie you want to review and bring up its details page by clicking the more… link or clicking the picture of the DVD.

Click the button and you will be taken to the reviews listing.
If no reviews have been written yet, there will be a message “There are currently no product reviews.”

If a review has been written, the review is listed with the author’s first name and a star rating. Click on the author name to read the review.

To write your own review simply click the button and you will be given a box to enter your review. Be honest, if you did not like a movie tell us why. If the movie moved you to tears we want to hear about that too! When you are done, give the movie a star rating from

(bad)

to (good)

When you are done click the button to save the review.

The more reviews we get the more we will all benefit.

Amazing Grace

January 8th, 2008 John

We had a request for Amazing Grace to be added to our catalog. Steve has mentioned in his posting entitled “Date Night Movie Report:” that Amazing Grace is one of his movies that fail the “dog poop” test. Now I have not seen the movie yet and wondered if other members would like to comment.

We are going to be adding some extra features in the next few weeks, amongst which we include links to the Dove Foundation reviews. Here is an exerpt from their review of Amazing Grace that I include for context.

Sex: Man and woman kiss
Language: H-5; D-1; G-5; A-6; N-2 (spoken by slave owner - not condoned by role models in the film); C-1 (spoken reverently by John Newton)
Violence: Brief images of slaves being treated badly. Dialog discussing extreme conditions on slave ships including rape.
Drugs: Wilberforce is diagnosed with Colitis and is prescribed Laudanum, a highly addictive form of opium. He quits taking the drug when he realizes its debilitating effect.
Nudity: Cleavage appropriate to the times.
Other: Gambling

OK so I can see that some people would consider “Cleavage Appropriate to the Times” a bit much and for this reason Dove recommends “Ages 12 and over ” for this one.

So what do you think? Let us know if we should add this movie to the catalog. I am leaning toward adding it with the rating “Parents Decide”.

Good Movie Requests

January 8th, 2008 John

We got a request to add some movies to the site and I will include them below. Firstly thank you for giving such thoughtful feedback in your request. This is EXACTLY the information we need to help make FFF the best online movie rental for families.

Ghostbreakers:  Bob Hope movie in which he helps a young heiress who is trying to see the home she inherited in Cuba (before it was communist). Someone who wants the estate is trying to keep her away by convincing her it is haunted.  Funny, cute - a great Bob Hope movie when he is quite young.
Road to Morocco:  Bob Hope, Bing Crosby.  The best Road movie - very funny as Bob is sold by Bing and ends up the fiance of the Moroccan Princess.
End of the Spear:  Gripping drama - a beautifully done recent movie telling the story of 4 missionaries who try to reach Indians in a remote part of Brazil and are all killed.  Their wives and children go to the Indian village and finish the missionary work started.  At the end of the movie, there is film footage of the actual Indians and the son of one of the missionaries who was killed talking today.  The event occurred in the 1950’s.  Great Christian message - beautiful panoramic scenery - very moving.
